Aging and Relationships

As we age we face more and more physical limitations and health problems. This is a sad but normal fact of life. On the positive side, research is showing that relationships grow stronger as we age.

Older adults who stick with a long-time marriage often find that their bonding is stronger and they are more willing to forgive each other. Older adults who start new relationships, possibly a new marriage, also find they are more patient, more supportive with each other than possibly in their earlier marriages or previous relationships.

In the later part of our lives, we are often get less angry about things, care less about how other people live their lives, and care less about making everyone like us. We are more concerned about finding peace in our lives and within our relationships.
