Done With Summer

Okay, maybe it’s only the beginning of August, but I’m done, done, done with summer!

My favorite seasons are spring and fall. I could savor either of them for weeks and weeks, or months and months. Sadly, it always feels like here in Kansas we only get to enjoy a couple of weeks of them.

I truly love when the world seems all fresh and new in the spring. The birds are returning, chirping and fluttering around. The trees all dead-looking and skeletal in the winter are leafing out. Flowers are popping up or being planted and starting to bloom. Ahhh, so lovely.

Fall, too, is wonderful. The trees are turning so many colors. There is a special smell in the air. And it’s time for football! Yeah, I know, not all women look forward to that, but I do.

Anyway, as I said, I’m done with this freaking hot summer. Too many days in the upper 90s and 100s. It’s hard to go walking outside and enjoy it, unless you go right after sunrise or after sunset. I can always go to the recreation center and walk inside. But that’s just not the same.

Sorry to sound all grippy here. I’m really a basically upbeat person most of the time. To lift my mood, I declared “the end of summer” here in my home. I pulled out my fall decorations and pumpkin collection from storage and spread them throughout my house. The picture only shows one small spot where they’re displayed.

I did ask my husband if it all seems too much. But, understanding and tolerant man that he is, he said he’s fine with it. Actually, he often tells me he really likes coming home and living with me and enjoys our house. He’s very patient, never knowing when I might decide to rearrange things on a whim.

Have a good day.
